I am looking forward to a great week. I need to get more fresh fruits and veggies in. For some reason, it seems like as the weather gets colder, the less inclined I am to eat fresh produce. It's not intentional. I like fresh produce. I think that perhaps, I have programmed myself to focus more on heavy, starchy foods when it turns cold. I will need to be careful, intentional, and self-respecting.

Saturday, when my daughter and I went running, we decided to run in the woods. We have some nice trails around here. In the winter, they are groomed for cross country skiing. It was good and bad. There were lots of leaves on the paths. Some parts were grass covered. This made it difficult for me to keep up my pace because, I was afraid of stepping in a rut or a hole and twisting my ankle. Ever since I broke my ankle playing football in high school, I have had a tendency to sprain my ankle. The good part was there were lots of hills which is good training.

When we drove away from the trails, I realized that running in the woods was the dumbest place to choose this time of the year. It's hunting season. While it's only bow season, running in the woods is still none too bright. I guess it's back to city streets and bike paths for us.

A good way of getting the extra fruit & veg into you is through smoothies.

Every morning I start the day with a banana, a handful of red grapes, maybe a few berries and a splash of fresh orange or pineapple juice whizzed through the blender - superb! But if you get yourself a juicer you can then add things like carrot and apple much easier too.

As it goes down as a drink rather than food, it's a great, and tasty, way of increasing your fruit & veg intake.

My apologies if it's obvious and you already do it.

You can freeze the smoothie mix for an alternative to ice cream too.

I hear you with the fruits and veggies. They're just not quite as readily available at this time of the year plus there's a whole new bunch out now that I'll have to try for the first time like pomagranite. What the heck do you do with that?

I've been eating a lot more canned fruit. Dole has some great fruit in plastic jars that I love as well, but there's nothing like the fresh stuff.

Lol...not good about the hunting season. Congratulations on losing some more!! It's great to see all your hard work agree with the number on the scale! I'm in a pineapple eating mode, lol! :)

Hello there,

It has been ages, but I see you are doing well! Kim is right, just start your day with a smoothy, or end it with fresh smoothie ice cream, and you can take care of your daily intake then and there.

oh yes and........TAG, you're it!

*grins* hop on over to my blog (day 196) and you'll see what I mean!
