Week 65 Weigh-In

Click Here for Happy Joy Song

Last Week's Weight: 258.8 lbs.
Today's Weight: 253.4 lbs. (-5.4)
Total Lost: 126.6 lbs.

Fat Ratio: 23.9%
Lean Mass: 192.8 lbs.
Fat Mass: 60.6 lbs.
Waist: 48 inches

Wow!!! I just don't get it. I can't imagine that I lost that much last week. I didn't just lose in pounds, but also in waist size which translates to body fat ratio. I sure didn't starve myself this week or anything. I did ditch that other eating plan, but I am still using the whey protein. The only thing I can figure is that I was bloated or something. There must have been some water weight involved in this loss.

I know. I know. Some of you are thinking, "What's with all the second guessing. I would be elated with 5.4 lb. loss. Who cares why? This Half Man guy is a real idiot!"

Well, I am thrilled. I am happy that things are on track. But, I also want to remain realistic about what is happening to me and my body.

I looked back to my first few months of weight loss. I could not find a time that I lost more than 4.8 lbs. in a week. That was when I was in the 300's which would be the time I would expect to lose more week to week. I know at some point I did lose more than 5 in a week. That only happened once or twice, and I don't have time to search my archives any more. I should have made use of labels (Doh!).

The bottom line is that I am much happier with my previous (and now current) eating habits. I feel good. I had a great 7 mile run on Saturday. This week, I plan to up that 8 miles. And to top it all off, I had a freakin' 5.4 lb. loss and a 1 inch waist loss. I am just one tenth of a pound away from losing one third my original body weight. Actually, it will be two tenths since that's how my scale weighs. I am sure that next week, I will be two-thirds man, lol!

NICE! How satisfying to see that loss after all you've been through recently.

Great to see such a loss and re-shape at the same time.

I've been reflecting on the question raised in your last post and I can't helpbut feel what's missing from the equation is the type of food.

If you equate food purely with calories, then whatgets missed out is all the nutrition aspect of the food.

If it was entirely about calories, you could live entirely off sugar, but of couse when we say it that way, it becomes clearly absurd. Different foods help our blood, our skin, hair, digestion, muscles, liver, brain function, etc

Some foods, like sugar/candy are calorific, but nutrionally empty (of course the more processed the foods, the emptier of nutrition they become). So 500 calories worth of sugar isn't going to do you as much good as 500 calories of protein, vitamins, minerals etc.

If you choose healthy foods, then they will help your body to use the calories more efficiently.

And in the end, it's our health we are most concerned about.

Nice job, dude! That's huge!

I think it's great that you're mindful of the way your body is working and getting rid of the weight, so no worries about that man. Just congratulations :)

I thought you might be happier if you reverted back to your old diet - and here's the proof! Obviously there was something in that other plan that wasn't working. Congratulations!

I too, am having a strange week. I don't really add it up weekly, but whenever I think to get on the scale. I get on every couple of days - and it has been steadily going down. As of this morning, 25 lbs are gone! Of course, my BMI is still an abysmal 35.5, but that should start changing soon too (sometimes I hate being short!).

Halfman,
Spidey ticked me off enough to reboot finalfifty.com. I threw down a 4th of july challenge on who can lose the most weight. I am using today's date of 258.8. You can use monday's. Should be a lot of fun. C-YA on the flipside.

p.s. it's not a fair fight because I am not having a beer until I hit 220.

Well, I was searching how to leave a comment. I think this is W-O-N-D-E-R-F-U-L. I'm seriously impressed. Saw the pics and there's nothing gross about them -it shows what losing the weight actually looks like, rather than it being just a number. What fantastic progress!
