Beware! Increasing Activity Levels

I haven't had the laser yet, but I have been increasing my activity levels. I decided to simply start over with running. I went back to the beginning program in the Beginning Runner's Handbook. This gives me plan that is certainly not too ambitious, but gives me structure while not over doing it. On the off days from the program, I am running with my daughters which is hardly running at all. With warm ups and stretching, my tendon seems to be no worse, and at times feels better.

I have also returned to weight training. Over a year ago, I dropped weight training when I was training for the marathon. I simply couldn't do it all. I have tried many times to get back to it regularly, but didn't. I am on my second week now, and plan to keep going. This will go a long way to boosting my metabolism.

Now, I need to get my eating under control. I am fairly good during the day. After the kids go to bed, I seem to crazed sensation that I need to eat all sorts of bad foods. I just need to go a few weeks without eating after 7PM and I will be fine. I bought some sunflower seeds in the shells. This helped me before.

I hope everyone is doing well. If you read this, please comment, if just to say, "Hi."

I've been having achilles tendonitis problems too - big time. I saw my doctor yesterday and asked him about it. He said it was good to catch it early because often it becomes a chronic condition if not addressed as soon as it comes up. He told me to back off my training a bit and work on serious stretching for a while.

Good to see you back!

At the end of the day it all comes down to calories in vs calories out and it will be that way until the end of time. :>)

Hey dude. Good to hear from you again. I hear you on the eating. Right now I'm not having a good time of it, but oh well.

Good on your for getting back to weight training too.

Eating late has been a problem for me also. I began waking up earlier so that means that I'm going to bed earlier. I think that its help curve the cravings closer to bedtime.

Awesome job so far! Seems like when ever I increase my work outs my hunger increases as well. Definitely not eating after 7PM helps and drinking lots of water to feel full helps too.

Wow that is very interesting. It is very important that you don't eat after your kids go to bed.

You need to make sure that you give your body the three hours of digesting time it needs so you aren't storing unnecessary fat just because you are eating and going to sleep.

Looking forward to more updates.

I know I've said this before but I'm so glad you're back!!! I always enjoyed your posts and your journey was so inspiring, not less so now. You are always so thoughtful and practical in your approach to managing exercise and diet. I love that you've inspired you children by example and they are now running consistently. What an amazing gift for life!!!

I too need the weight training. I'm worried about my triceps or should I say the lack of them. The arms are a big problem area for women as they age or lose weight ... or both. :)

I've never had the sunflower seeds in the shell. Do you eat the shell as well or break it and extract the nut? Either way it's a great idea. The shell must create fiber in the intestines which is great or if you shell them the time it takes will slow down the eating and ensure you don't get many calories.

Such endurance you have for carrying out with a strict exercise routine. With all the calories you are burning up, you would have no trouble adjusting your eating plan. I wish I could be as physically active. Changing my eating habits is only half as difficult as keeping up with regular exercise--for me that is.

Haha. I used to always have a bowl of ice cream before I went to sleep but that had to stop. It was obviously horrible for my health.
