Week 47 Weigh-In

Last Week's Weight: 269.6 lbs.
Today's Weight: 268.6 lbs. (-1)
Total Lost: 111.4 lbs.

Fat Ratio: 26.4% (-0.2)
Lean Mass: 197.7 lbs. (-0.2)
Fat Mass: 70.9 lbs. (-0.8)
Waist: 50.25 inches (-0.25)

I have discovered that my resolve is slipping a little when it comes to making wise food choices. I can't wait until this next week is over. I have not gone overboard, but still ate a few treats just because they were there. I think I said it before. Will-power is overrated. It's better to place myself in situations where my will is not tested.

With that being said, I made Christmas cookies yesterday: Snickerdoodles, chocolate crinkles, peanut butter blossoms, and gingerbread. Starting off, I was pretty good. I didn't snitch any dough from my first batch. When I was placing them on the cooling rack, one cookie broke, so I ate a piece. It was awful! I forgot the sugar!!! I took the rest of the dough and added in half sugar, half splenda. These tasted better, but on the next batches I tasted the dough to make sure I hadn't forgotten some ingredient...well, that's my story and I am sticking to it.

For some reason, the cookies didn't turn out quite right this year. I am not sure if it was the splenda, or old baking powder and soda. I should have bought fresh. Oh well. The kids will have fun today decorating the gingerbread.

Exercise has been very good this last week. I cross country skied a few more times, and I hope to get out some more this week. I took my two oldest ice skating. I continue to run and lift weights. I don't know if this makes sense, but I feel my muscles. I have more awareness of them especially in my upper body and arms. I don't look like I feel. I look doughy, but I feel muscular. I am not quite sure why. Maybe it's just a natural result of less fat on the muscles.

I wish everyone a very Merry Christmas!

I think you are doing very well under the circumstances. It's good that you are keeping up the exercise. That will help to offset the extra calories. Merry Christmas to you!!!

HM - I just read all of your early entries, and most of the recent ones up through September, which is when I began reading your blog. I just want to thank you for being so frank about your journey to (of) fitness. I posted a link on my blog to one of my favorite posts of yours, about priorities. Self-respect and entitlement were two other topics that I found particularly applicable to my life.

But my favorite - and OMG you just welcomed your fifth child, congrats!! - was when you said that you couldn't wait for your daughter to be able to put her arms all the way around your waist when she hugs you. That is the sweetest thing EVER - the best goal anyone could ever think of.

Your blog inspired me to start mine, and it keeps inspiring me. I can't wait for the day when you post the 190 lb weekly weigh-in, but you've already won a new, fit lifestyle. WOO HOO!!

Hope you had a great Christmas. The cookies sound too delish, and funnily enough the mixture always tastes better! lol

Hay there.

I just happened to pass by your blog, and I wanted to say that to lose over 100 lb's in a year, is a brilliant achievement, and you should be throughly proud of yourself for doing that.

I believe the hard part now is going to be keeping it off, and actually making the last few steps, as I am sure it's a lot more difficult for someone in your situation, to get the last few lbs off, because a few changes to diet and exercise might not necessarily work, it might be specific tweaks, that yield the final amount of lbs.

To be your weight though with a 26% Fat level, you must be a pretty strong guy, and you clearly have changed yourself a heck of a lot in the past 12+ months, and I know it's going to be hard, but I know for you it's going to be doable.

Nobody can come this far and not have the will to succeed, and you seem like a man who can and WILL do what you set out to do, and you certainly are someone who can be called an inspiration in my mind, and someone who really deserves to feel better than second best, and in my eyes,(no puns intended here), it takes a big man to step up to the plate, and admit he's gone to a bad place physically, but a bigger man still to start walking and manage to keep walking to a much better place, but also you seem to have done it in a humble way, and let your actions speak for you, and your situation makes me admire you a lot for everything you have done and still do.

I wanted to also say, I have a messageboard called Steelmuscle, which is accessible on my blog.

You clearly don't need much motivation, but if you ever want any extra help, support, or want to give those things to others, please do stop by and say hi to us anytime.

You and others you know in life, or talk to on Blogger, will always be welcome to come join the community, and be a valued member of the team.

If that's not your thing, then sincerely no worries.

Either way, good luck keeping on keeping on, and keep making the difference to yourself you already are doing. You've a right to feel proud of what you've done, and it's not about analysing the man who was, but about giving a thumbs up to the man who is now, and who will be in the future.

Take care and best wishes.

:-) :-).
